STAYING IN BUDGET DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

DECORATING ON A BUDGET| STAYING IN BUDGET| DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

hey you guys and welcome back to my

channel so we are going to be jumping

right into this video pretty much I am

going to be taking this mat and I’m

covering the furnitures to make sure

nothing gets any paint spills or

anything on it and I am going to start

painting the trim I’ve already done the

three on that side and I’m pretty much

moving along the entire dining room now

if I want to say it was about five

o’clock in the afternoon

when I started painting and the Sun was

coming in and I also had the lights on

in the dining room and the color looks

really really great I love the contrast

between the bright white of the wayans

clouds down below and then the final

grade up above but as the night

progressed onto the color it just seemed

really really dark so as of right now

the color is final grade but I am really

thinking about changing the color to

light you up just a hair I did not

anticipate that the Box trim was going

to be doing like adding a little bit of

shadow on the paint which then kind of

darken the color I don’t know I’m still

thinking about it cuz in the morning it

looks really really beautiful my only

dilemma is how it looks at night again I

just really wanted to give the wall kind

of like a art detail to it especially

once the mirrors kind of go over at the

box but for right now I’m just gonna go

ahead and finish painting I’ll see how

everything turns out towards the end

[Music]

[Music]

gins the light switch and for right now

it’s just going to be a sight for sore

eyes the only other option is for me to

paint it and I know how my kids get down

so I’m not gonna paint it to cover it so

it’s gonna be white and I thought about

painting the entire thing white but then

I wasn’t just like I wasn’t all the way

in love with it being white so I still

have to paint the top so I have to get

the ladder out the garage to paint that

side and then I still have some more

caulking that after doing if you can see

the spacing right here still have some

more caulking but for the most part it’s

painted and I’m really really loving it

I just wanted to see what it was gonna

look like like this and it looks really

good

being like this I think it would have

looked really great being white also I

just okay I didn’t want to I don’t know

I just didn’t wanting to do white I feel

like the window stands out a little bit

more the wainscoting down below sticks

out a bit more and once these chairs

come in its gonna be like Poppins that’s

what I wanted to do so I’m just gonna

leave it like that I think it looks

really great this is just the first coat

I’m gonna go in and do a second and when

the boys are sleeping tonight I’m gonna

go ahead and tackle the top but I’m

gonna go ahead and make them something

to eat really quickly so as I’m making

my way to the kitchen this is pretty

much what’s going on I am really really

excited for the pantry

Oh morning and Kerr looks really good

at night it just feel like it’s too dark

but in the morning I really love it so

I’m gonna sit on this color front a

little bit I don’t know if I’m gonna

change it for now but at night it just

seems a little dark but right now I’m

looking at it and I’m really loving the

color I step into the side yeah what’s

up lady okay so I’m cooking and I’m

currently in the pantry so these are the

well this one here is the sorry Gipson

knob here is the pull that’s going to be

going on the cabinet as you can see I

still have my countertops yeah I’m

waiting on them they have to be cut I’m

trying to get a really good deal on them

so I kind of have to wait only because

instead of getting a large slab I’m

waiting on the pieces already been like

pre-cut and then whatever is left over

cuz such a narrow space right here so

yeah some youth I’m trying to save money

if I don’t do that in something crazy so

I don’t have the countertops yet we’re

currently in week 3 okay by March first

you guys will see the full review at

least the first week of March I can

definitely say yes but I had to account

for all the hiccups and stuff like that

anyway moving on so these are from a

company called D Lawson hardware and as

you can see the finish on them match the

finish on the door which is really what

I wanted so this one right here is the

cabinet that’s gonna be right here so I

was thinking to do this like this right

and not have to pull and the rest would

have the pull so you would see two

handles and then the rest was gonna be

pull I just want I just wanted a little

bit of I just wanted just a small bit of

variation on there it’s not gonna go

against this line because this is the

scene where the wood meets it so I was

thinking at least like right here would

be really good but um just wanted to

kind of show you

that really quickly this is really

really good I like it hold on let me do

this real quick cuz I want you guys to

really get into the walls because they

look so good you can barely tell that

there was any damage on the water any

holes or anything and that’s why I say

it’s kind of worth taking the time out

just to kind of patch everything I

really hate seeing the most

imperfections in them if I can help it I

would like them to be like as neat as

possible and as clean as possible and

that’s why I said I wanted the guys to

come in and sand because I was just not

almost hurt and I was exhausted so I was

like let me just call them to come in

paint and stuff and I am gonna caulk so

if you’re seeing these right here I’m

gonna get the almond and kind of go

around and have everything everything’s

gonna be really really nice when you

guys finally see the reveal but I like

doing the breakdowns like this because

then you get to see the full process the

laundry room is coming together that was

painting the pantry is coming together

that’s almost well that’s painted and

then the shovels have to go up what else

oh the dining room I painted that too

hence the paint I’m taking a shower but

all of it don’t come off out when one

you know you’d be thinking you get

everything so you get out and I’m like

oh whatever

DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

hmm I’m gonna shower tonight I’m gonna

scrub the rest off anyway hopefully you

guys enjoying and not worth today I have

an order coming from I have an order

coming from Container Store so I’m

excited to share that I got those little

totes the organization stuff when I did

the video inside of Container Store I

showed you guys that door unit for

organization I got that I need to go to

Walmart to get the little mat to go on

the shelving in the laundry room

because I don’t want potential chemicals

like falling on that paint

cuz there’s nothing really protecting it

so I need to get liners for that I need

to get I got a trash can for recycling

and regular trash one’s a little pullout

thing

slow thermal jiggers what else did I get

I got quite a bit of stuff I just want I

just want I’m gonna laundrymat to be as

organized as possible

DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

I want the pantry to be as organized as

possible so these small space

transformations I think they’re just

gonna be amazing just because um they’re

gonna be nice and I really want to

revamp the kids little play area

downstairs but I’m gonna leave it alone

maybe a little a lot of you guys have

been reaching out to me recently and I

don’t have a website I’m working on it I

promise y’all working on it but right

now I don’t have one so if you wanna

reach out to me you can you can reach

out to me via email I have exciting news

to share with you guys before I forget

my manager in the background showed up

DINING ROOM & PANTRY MAKEOVER

oh don’t get and don’t get I guess you

guys are going to have to wait for the

surprise but everyone has left me

downstairs so now I’m getting some

personal work done pretty much trying to

finish off final drafts of a project

that I have going on and just in case

you were wondering the lamp behind me

actually gives the room a good bit of

light so I’m not working in the dark I’m

actually getting quite a bit of light

but I do want to get a test lamp but I

hope you guys enjoyed today’s video I

know I’m giving you guys a lot of

updates on the house but that is because

a lot of the things that is going on

currently in the house it’s definitely

going to take a little bit of time but

I’m definitely excited for the reveal of

everything so that is pretty much it for

today don’t forget to Like comment and

definitely subscribe

Small Dining Room Makeove

Under $400 Small Dining Room Makeover | DIY Home Decor

hi everyone welcome back to my channel

today’s video is going to be a little

different from my sewing videos today

I’m gonna show you how I transform my

tiny dining room into a super chic and

pinched se space that I’d actually be

proud to take pictures of and share of

people before this video I have never

decorated a dining room before so keep

in mind that I have zero experience but

hopefully this inspires those of you who

are beginners like me to try it out for

yourself before we get started I wanted

to say thank you to hellofresh for

sponsoring this video

if you guys have ever been in the middle

of remodeling your home you know how

hectic and stressful it can get the last

thing you want to do is go grocery

shopping or think about what you’re

going to eat for dinner with hellofresh

my life was made so much easier by

having pre-measured ingredients with

step-by-step recipes delivered straight

to my doorstep ready to cook and enjoy

you can try for yourself and get $30 off

your first order by visiting hellofresh

comm and entering the code cooler but

thirty I hope you guys enjoy this video

and let’s get started the very first

thing I did was think about my color

scheme since I’m renting this place

painting the walls is not an option so

what I had to do was think about what

colors would match the walls and the

cabinet’s what really helped me a lot is

going to Home Depot and just grabbing a

bunch of color swatches to take home and

see what would look best and the colors

that stood out to me the most were pink

green and white it reminded me of a

cactus or a desert theme and that’s what

sparked my creativity the hardest part

about designing anything is visualizing

what the end result is going to look

like which is why I like to use this

website called poly bar to lay out all

the furniture and decorations by doing

this I’m able to see how all the colors

will look like together and where

certain items should be placed these are

not the same exact items I’ll be

purchasing this just makes it easier for

me to visualize I know I want a white

table and since my theme is green and

pink I was thinking about pink chairs

and for the pop of green I can have

plants hanging on the wall since the

room is so small I think of Mara would

help open up the space and lastly some

green curtains to add more color now

that I have a plan the fun part is

searching for the items the first thing

that I knew I wanted to change was

getting rid of my mini-fridge and

upgrading to a bigger sized one I

decided to look on the Facebook

marketplace and luckily someone was

selling a brand new fridge for only $100

the only thing wrong about it was that

the site has a long dent which was fine

with us because that allowed us to use

our creativity and figure out a way to

cover it up Thanks I searched the

Facebook marketplace for a wooden table

that would be small enough for my

kitchen and found the perfect table for

only $10 since we need a table to be

white the first thing we did was sand

the entire table to get rid of the

glossy residue then wipe away all the

dust with a wet cloth and let the table

dry before painting all right we are on

our way to pick up these super adorable

wooden folding chairs the lady is

selling it to us for $10 each after the

table and chairs were sanded it was time

to paint them white we actually had a

bucket of white paint in her garage

already so we didn’t have to buy a new

one

[Music]

all right while Eric is sweeping the

garage I’m gonna start prepping

tonight’s dinner with hellofresh

so excited to make the Juicy Lucy burger

all of the ingredients are pre measured

and just need to be prepped and they

even provide step-by-step instructions

which make it really easy and fun to

follow if you don’t enjoy meal planning

or grocery shopping like me you’re gonna

appreciate this service so much this

Juicy Lucy burger only took 30 minutes

to cook and it was the best burger I’ve

ever made at home the best part about it

was definitely the onion jam if you

don’t eat me they also have a veggie and

kids meal plan for you to choose from so

try it out for yourself

and make sure to use my code cooler but

thirty for $30 off your first order on

hellofresh calm the next morning my

sister and I moved everything out of the

dining space and started planning where

everything should be placed before

making any holes in the wall at this

point I was still thinking about

painting the chairs pink but then I kind

of like them matching the table so I

decided on pink seat cushions instead

all right so I have a piece of paper and

I’m going to just trace out the size of

this chair so I can make the seat

cushion I didn’t even have to mark it

out on the chair I just folded it over

the edges increased it to get the shape

of it and then now I’ll true up the

markings

I found this pink fabric from jo-ann

which was the perfect shade for my color

scheme fold the fabric in half and cut

out two pieces I only added a half inch

seam allowance which made the seat

cushions a little smaller than the seat

so if you want your cushion to stick out

more I would add an extra inch all

around

[Music]

after cutting out the two pieces so all

the way around but leave an opening so

that we can turn it inside out and stuff

it later next fold the corner so that

the two seams are lined up and touching

and draw a two inch line across the

corner and pin it in place this is going

to make the seat cushion 3d instead of

being flat before so in the corners I

added two pieces of ribbon at the two

back corners so that the seat cushion

can be tied to the chair and won’t fall

off

[Music]

all right so I have this a big bag of

scrap fabric this is what I do with my

scraps after I’m done sewing I just

throw it on here and I’m going to stuff

my seat cushions with these leftover

scrap pieces of fabric to close the

opening I’m going to use a ladder stitch

or blind stitch I’ve always done this

technique before but the way I did it

was really slow and then I saw a video

on Facebook showing how to do it a lot

faster so that’s why I’m going to try

out right now it definitely is so much

easier you just go up and across up and

across back and forth until the end and

then you pull the thread to close the

opening I still need so much practice to

get this looking clean and I recommend

drawing out your seam line to stay on

track I found the circle mirror from

Target and we’ll be using it as a center

of my wall display next to the mirror

will be two hanging wooden shells that

we are DIY in ourselves we bought two

planks of wood from Home Depot and had

them cut to 15 inches which you can ask

them to do in the store you’ll also need

some rope which we also got from Home

Depot this DIY is so easy and looks so

cute all you have to do is make markings

about an inch away from each corner and

then use a drill to make four holes in

the wood just make sure that the hole is

big enough so that you can slide the

rope through next cut two long pieces of

rope we didn’t know the exact

measurement of the rope see until we

type in nuts and saw what it looks like

on the wall it really depends on your

design so I would just leave the ropes

long until you decide how short or long

you want it to be one rope will be going

through the front two holes and the

other in the back two holes

[Music]

keep in mind that the rope in the front

will be slightly longer since it’ll be

going at an angle you kind of just have

to go with it and make adjustments to

the ropes along the way

once the shelf is evenly balanced on the

wall mark where you want it to sit and

then use a nail or screw to hold it in

place when putting the second shelf up

make sure it’s lined up with the other

side before making a hole lastly I

wanted to share how I covered up the

huge dent on the side of my fridge I

decided to place a whiteboard on top and

hang a grid wall underneath so that I

can clip on notes and pictures to the

fridge I order the grid wall on Amazon

and spray painted it gold and the white

board I got it from Target here is the

before and after

[Music]

all right here is my final dining room

transformation I can’t believe this room

looks so cute now compared to what it

used to look like before like I said at

the beginning of my video I have never

decorated a dining room before or any

room at all so I’m super happy with how

everything turned out and if I can do it

you guys can definitely do it too now

I’m gonna go around and give you guys a

little tour and show you guys all the

decorations we added to this room so on

top of the cabinets is an artificial

plant I found at savers their store and

I painted it pink and white to go along

with the theme and the artichoke

painting is from Joann it was really

important for me to have something above

the cabinet’s because the colors would

reflect in the mirror and make the room

look a lot more interesting on the

shelves we do wide I found these

artificial succulents from home goods

and rose and painted one of them ombre

white and pink and the other one I

painted in the triangles next we

replaced the vertical blinds with some

green curtains I bought from Target and

the white curtains are from Russ my

original Trash Can was black and it was

ruining my color scheme so I decided to

paint it green and turn it into a cactus

we painted a flower on top because the

lines got uneven I also got the woven

basket from Ross and we’ll be using it

for recyclables I love how the pink seat

cushions turned out they were also

really easy to make and even though

they’re stuffed with scrap fabric

they’re still really comfortable to sit

on

lastly we laid a burlap table runner on

the table to make it stand out more and

added a touch of flowers in a mason jar

for a fresh vibe thank you guys so much

for watching I hope you enjoyed this

video let me know down in the comments

if you want to see more videos like this

in the

Tips for How to Decorate a Cohesive Dining Room

Decorate a Cohesive Dining Room

INTERIOR DESIGN | Tips for How to Decorate a Cohesive Dining Room | House to Home

hey guys welcome back to live your style

I’m Shara as most of you know today

we’re tackling at the dining room

I’m showing you the last room inside our

house we still have a little room

outside in the backyard that I’ll show

you guys in a few weeks huh huh I like

it project if you guys follow me on

Instagram which you should if you

haven’t yet I post a lot of fun stuff

and I asked you guys all the questions

you have about dining or decorating and

boy are you guys curious about dining

rooms and that you seem to have a few

concerns and questions and things you

want clarified about decorating you are

dining space Before we jump into today’s

video I want to ask you the question in

the video which is how many people can

sit around your dining table mine is 8

this is the biggest dining table I have

ever had and it was quite fabulous can I

just say but I have been at a one phase

in my life where my dining table was a

bench at the end of my bed because I

lived in a studio and you had to sit on

the floor on a pillow

I’m Tyler members next we were dating

and he pretended to like it but he hated

it because he’s sick sport I hope you

guys have been loving the House dome

series kinda sad that it’s almost over I

think it’s been like a really cool

experience for me because I’ve been able

to process the whole thing you go

through when you move and how you move

into a new house and it feels super

unfamiliar and kind of scary and a

little bit depressing because you’re

like what did we do where are we and the

whole point of this series was not only

show you our new place but also walk you

through the ways to make your house feel

like a home and make it feel cozy and

like you and like it reflects your style

and you’re proud of it and just help you

piece it all together I want to say a

special thank you to article and to

minted they have partnered with us in

this series and they’ve really allowed

for me to make some pretty cool videos

and show you guys some pretty awesome

furniture alright let’s get into this

video sorry about the long intro don’t

forget to hit the subscribe button

thumbs up this video and answer the

question of the day I mean the video you

know what I mean

the first thing that you need to

consider is a rug you guys know me I’m

all about the rug life I love rugs

everywhere but especially in a dining

room because it really grounds the space

you’re probably sharing a dining room

space with the kitchen space also with a

living room space so having the rug

really helps define oh this is the

dining room and it’s separate from this

other room but it’s all in the same room

if you have a big circle table I

recommend getting a bigger circle rug if

you have a big rectangular table get a

rectangular rug you could do a circle

table on a rectangular rug but the rug

would have to be pretty big because

you’d want it to go beyond the circle a

lot of questions you guys asked me on

Instagram was how do you know what size

rug to get for what size table a good

rule of thumb is when you pull the

chairs out you want the legs certainly

the front legs but the back legs to also

be just right on the rug that way you’re

not kiddie Wampus also if you get too

small of a rug in a dining room it can

actually make your space feel way

smaller I originally had put a five by

seven rug in here thinking like oh yeah

that’ll be big enough and then when the

dining table was put on it it was like

the size of the table was not good this

is an 8 by 10 rug and it almost filled

up the room I have about a foot on

either side of the rug it made this room

looks so much bigger so that was a

really great thing that we did the other

thing that you have to know when it

comes to picking out your dining room

rug is making sure the material that you

pick is not too precious but also it can

be vacuumed because this is a

high-traffic area it’s a high spill area

and so I recommend getting either a flat

weave which is something like what I

have or you want to get something that’s

a low peel rug which is going to be kind

of like the one I used in the bedroom

but now that we have our nice rug down

let’s add the next layer which is

obviously a table let’s go get it you

want to help me okay oh you feel cute

[Music]

the next thing is the table so it’s e8

like I said it’s a little bit over three

feet wide and a little bit over seven

feet long the room itself is in between

the living room in between the kitchen

and the hallway to the bedrooms so it’s

very much a like cross through area one

of the most important things when it

comes to picking a dining table you

obviously wanted to see the amount of

people you need to see for but you also

want to make sure you’re allowing a lot

of extra space to maneuver around that

way your room doesn’t feel really like

small so this size room is almost a

square it is 13 feet long and it’s about

ten feet wide we have about three feet

on either side here which is exactly

about the amount that you want between

two and three feet on either side of the

table to get around people to move their

chairs in and out if you guys don’t have

a lot of space obviously you can get

square tables you can get circle tables

a lot of the time visually circle tables

take up less space because there’s no

corners so I recommend that try to make

the most of it I mean even if you don’t

have a lot of space there are a lot of

different varieties especially at IKEA

and places like that and pick a table

that’s best for the amount of space that

you have I love this table so much it is

from article I love the light wood color

it just looks so quality the wood grain

is really beautiful I love the stained

color it goes with the color woods that

we have right now in the living room and

those rooms are so close to each other

so I really like that they kind of speak

to each other if you have not a lot of

space using a dark color table in a

really small space sometimes can soak up

a lot of the brightness and the light in

the you know room that you have so

getting something that’s lighter color

or white often helps let’s move on to

the next layer which is seating

number three chairs okay so this was by

far the most asked question on Instagram

you want to know if you can mix and

match chairs you want to know if you can

mix woods within the leg of the chair

and the leg of the table you want to

know what kind of chairs to go with what

kind of table so here’s like the general

rule yes you can totally mix and match

chairs it all depends on the style of

the chair and your problem personal

style if your style your design style is

more vintage and a little more romantic

you have the most freedom to mix and

match all different kinds of chairs if

you are more of a minimalist type I

think you need to stay closer into

having one or two different style chairs

often times as long as what’s on this

side of the table and on this side of

the table are the same and you have

maybe two end chairs that are different

that’s a really great way to keep it

really simple and clean but still mix

with the people at the heads of the

table have like the big fancy chairs if

you guys remember my old place in

Hermosa Beach we had two different

chairs that were across from each other

they had the bar on the back and then we

had two simpler ones that went on either

side of the table and then on the other

side we put a bench which I think is a

really fun way especially if you have

young kids kids love sitting on the

bench you can squeeze more people on to

kind of maximize the seating options all

of the seating options all had a more

honey slash darker wood tone mixed with

a gray patterned cloth so they weren’t

the exact same cloth but they were both

gray so a way to make it really clean

and simple is just make sure that the

textures and the colors are in the same

realm unless you have a super eclectic

design style or a Victorian design style

and you can have at it and really go

crazy now the chairs that I opted for in

this particular house are different than

any chair I’ve ever done because I

wanted just to have fun with it the

chairs here I got from article there

this green stage color which I tried to

sprinkle throughout all of the different

rooms in this house in this space I

wanted it to be really clean and serene

and just kind of like welcoming and cozy

I think the long style table lends

itself to that I think the chairs and

the color of them are very serene which

I love but you’ll notice all the chairs

are the exact same I’m going for more of

a mid

three Scandinavian style so I wanted it

to be a little bit more simplistic also

you can see what’s in the room behind me

this room isn’t by itself so I didn’t

want to make it too busy in this

in-between room because you kind of walk

through here a lot you’ll notice the

legs of the table are pretty similar to

the legs of the chairs it kind of

contrasts it but because I have all the

same chair it kind of makes sense and

goes together as opposed to having all

different colors but the reason I like

these chairs is they could go outside

because they’re plastic and metal

they’re easy to wipe down they’re

actually surprisingly very comfortable I

was worried about the comfort of them

because they don’t have any cushions on

them they’re very ergonomic great

support and they cup your butt well can

I just say but they’d also be good in a

kid’s playroom because they’re easy to

clean so I love them because they’re

versatile and I can use them for a lot

of different things also if you guys

want to do something fun and get into a

colored chair I think that the sage

green color is a really great bridge

because it’s weird that I’m saying this

it’s almost like a grey because it’s not

bright it’s like a pastel but it is

super close to an easy step into a color

without doing yellow or red or orange I

think goes really well if you have

plants in your home it makes sense kind

of ties in with that element it just

kind of gives you an organic feel

without being too fearful that you’re

committing to a color that you’re gonna

hate it just kind of blends into my home

and probably your home really well

number four light fixtures okay so

similarly to rugs light fixtures really

do help define a space they kind of tell

the eye that this is its own little area

and then also it obviously provides some

practical use it lightens up the table

lighting in a dining room is really

important because it’s totally a piece

of art it’s the focal point for the

space it’s really going to make or break

I think the vibe and the feeling of the

space for me I picked a light fixture

that went along with the vibe that we

have going on in the rest of our home so

I wanted to get something that had this

dome shape but I didn’t want it to be

directional lighting that just had like

a giant spotlight I wanted the light to

kind of go out so I like how there’s

some hole

in our light fixture here it’s kind of

that rattan woven material which lends

itself to the color of wood that I have

going on on my dining table and in the

art and in the rug and kind of within

the whole house when it comes to all the

specifics about lighting if you guys

want to learn more about bulbs and how

bright should your dining room light be

and all of those types of details I just

did a video on that I will link it below

for you guys to check out you want to

make sure that the fixture that you pick

out goes along with the style but it

also is the right size and also the

right height so with size you don’t want

it to be so big that it goes beyond your

table you want it to kind of be centered

obviously on your table that’s a big one

now if your box your lightbox is not

centered over where you want to put your

table you have two options you can

either move the light source if you own

the place or if you have a buddy who can

help you with that and moving the light

fixture thing over or you can swag it so

let’s say the light fixture thing is

over not centered to the room get

yourself a longer cord put a hook in the

ceiling above Center and swing your

light to it that way your light will

fall centered over the table you wanted

to be at least thirty mine’s actually

thirty-five inches up if you have tall

people in your life I recommend

thirty-five inches away from your actual

table surface because believe it or not

somehow Tyler hits his head on our light

fixture like all the time if you have

tall people in your life make sure you

get a soft chandelier that way they

don’t hit their head too hard because

this is like you know a basket and

they’ve said let’s move on to number

five okay so number five is all about

organization and storage in your dining

room if you guys have really big dining

rooms and you can fit extra furniture up

against the wall I recommend getting

like a buffet table or a credenza for me

I wanted to opt for a bigger dining

table which ate up some of my outside

space so I wasn’t able to fit any

storage in this room plus it’s a walking

through room so kind of weird to put big

chunks of furniture up against the wall

and I have this cute little butler’s

pantry behind me and

I was able to really utilize a lot of

storage in that space and that’s where I

put all my linens and all my wine

glasses things like that are all stored

in there another question I got was

about the credenza if the color of the

wood has to match the color of the wood

of your dining table the answer to that

question really lies in what’s your

design style if you guys have more of an

eclectic design style or more bohemian

or even a little bit more vintage style

I think you can mix around a lot more

and I think you guys can really have fun

finding different style things as long

as the styles are complementary to one

another so for example if you guys

remember when I went over to Alana’s

house you guys remember Elena I helped

her man they move into their new place

and she got a dining table at a

completely different place than where

she found their Forenza but you’ll

notice that the color of the woods are

very similar and the styles are both

mid-century but you can tell that

they’re not a set there was like a brass

inlay in the credenza the table was a

little bit more simple had clean lines

and they both went well together if you

guys want to know more about making

cohesive rooms making your rooms

cohesive to itself into the other rooms

in your house I have a really great

video on that I think I have two videos

on that now and I will link them both

below you guys can check those out so I

hope that helps

[Music]

okay number six this is my favorite part

it’s time to decorate time to

accessorize and make this space really

beautiful when it comes to centerpieces

I had a lot of questions on that general

rule of thumb don’t use anything too

tall because you can’t see people across

from you also it’s really good if you

span the length of your table with

something doesn’t mean you have to have

a giant bouquet that’s as long as your

table let’s say you have one bouquet and

maybe a few bud faces like if I had a

dinner party here I would probably do a

couple small vases down the table and

make one big centerpiece in the middle

flowers are kind of more of a special

occasion thing the flowers here I think

are so beautiful they’re fresh I got

them all at Trader Joe’s and made it

myself beautiful but it’s not gonna last

so it’s not gonna be what I have on my

table all the time it’s gonna be what I

have on the table if I want to get fancy

or if I want to have people over now

this is a great option for day to day it

is kind of a monochromatic theme because

it’s similar color to my table but it’s

a little bit lighter and I just love the

texture that it provides now I have a

video that’s all about how to host a

dinner party I go over setting the table

I talk about different ways to do

centerpieces depending on what kind of

party it is if you guys want to check

that out I’m gonna link it below it is

more fall themed

but the principle is itself totally

applied to any season for me when it

comes to decorating I love white you

guys know that I love these really

awesome new white placemats that I got

they’re two-tone they are easy to wash I

know sometimes white can be scary but I

like white because I can bleach them or

I can put a stain remover on them

they’re still a woven fabric so it goes

along with my cohesive vibe that I have

going on in here oh when it comes to

vases so ooh this is heavy I have a lot

of water in here it’s a cookie jar so

when you guys go shopping for vases

don’t just look in the vase section

there are a variety of different

containers that really do well when it

comes to big bouquets the key is looking

for something that has a wide mouth a

lot of the time vases are really small

mouths and then if you try to put a

bunch of flowers in them they’re all

gonna be like sticking straight up a

wide mouth allows you to put them in

angular and die

so they kind of open up if that makes

sense this was a cookie jar I just got

rid of the lid I’ve also gone to home

goods and found flour containers like

canisters and those I have found have

been the best containers for me for

flowers so that’s a quick little tip oh

but also when it comes to decor in your

dining room art art is a really great

way to decorate the walls obviously it

doesn’t take up a lot of floor space I

didn’t want to overwhelm the space with

art on every single wall here so this

was the largest piece of wall I had and

I didn’t want it to be too busy so I

just went with one giant piece I get

this question a lot this is fifty four

by forty I got this art print app minted

and I love it because it’s kind of

architectural which kind of a theme I

was going for with a lot of my art

pieces and last but not least you have a

beautiful view out of the windows which

i think is really pretty with the trees

and then we also have our pretty

curtains that go on either side of the

window obviously I have this irritating

little border no it’s really cute I like

it but it kind of keeps me from taking

my curtains all the way up to the

ceiling which I know I tell you guys to

do all the time also big tip put your

curtains on the outside of the windows

not the inside of the windows I think I

went about a foot out from the window

that way all of my curtains when they’re

open they just sit right on the outside

and they don’t take up any of my view

they’re functional but they’re also

framing the window which looks really

nice okay guys I hope you enjoyed the

final well this isn’t the final video I

keep saying that but we do have one more

it’s been a really fun series and I hope

you guys have enjoyed this video don’t

forget to answer the question in the

video and be on the lookout for one of

our final final videos which is all

gonna be about how we updated the

backyard because it needs a lot of work

if you guys know my mom and I did this

It’s an ideal place for hosting holiday
meals

and for spending time with family and friends

so at the time of decorating your
dining room you should create an inviting

area to enjoy all those moments.

in this video I will share with you 5 simple
tips and decor ideas to get immediately a

contemporary and stylish dining room.

So let’s get started.

Lighting

Lighting is a key feature in any room.

For a contemporary dining room look, add light
fixtures with character and sculptural shapes

that can contrast with the space.

sculptural pendant lights help bring some
attention to the room.

Choose a shape that complements your dining
table.

For example, hang a round fixture above a
round table and choose an oval or linear fixture

to hang above longer and rectangular tables.

Don’t clutter the contemporary room with
collections or too many lighting pieces,

one incredible design is perfect to turn your
dining room into the focal point of your home.

Finally, consider the size of your space.

If you have a large dining room, go big and
bold with an extravagant shape

If your space is smaller, small hanging pendants

will achieve a similar effect without taking up too much

visual and real space.

Remember that everything in interior design
is about scale, balance and harmony.

Lighting is key when it comes to designing
any space, in a contemporary room your lighting

fixture will provide two important things
for you: Function and aesthetic!

Furniture!

Make it Work.

The dining table of a contemporary room is
usually with clean lines and simple shapes

in materials like wood, matte finishes or
glass.

But now you shouldn’t be too rigid at the
time of selecting your chairs, it’s very

interesting to surround your table with a
mix-and-match of chair styles, this way you

can add some texture, color and shapes to
bring a fresh and contemporary breeze into

your room.

A great idea is to use some of your dining
room chairs as a multifunctional items

which you can move, mix and match with your living
room decor as well

this way you will have

versatile items to use them for a dinner party
or to share with some friends at your living room

without having those chairs seem like
they’re from the dining room because each

chair is unique and special.

If you have seen my other videos you will
know that I always include my next recommendation

and tip, which is: Nature inside!

Nature is always a good idea because it helps
humanize spaces and soften up the environment

and the decor.

If you have enough space you can incorporate
a plant in the surrounding area of your dining room

or natural leaves or flowers as a centerpiece,

if your space is reduced you can add some

flowers or some greenery
in a small and simple container

just to freshen up the dining area

a little.

Decorate your walls.

Any piece of artwork can immediately change
a room.

Art can help tell a story though your interior
design, add life to a space, bring bold elements

into the room or just be the perfect piece
for your composition.

Never, ever, ever under-estimate the impact
that your wall décor can have on the room,

it’s the perfect opportunity for you to
make the dining room feel truly your own.

Start by finding a piece of wall art that
speaks to you.

Maybe it reminds you of your travels, or maybe
it adds that perfect accent color to tie the

room together.

For a contemporary look, mix it up a little
with some dramatic art work.

Wall art with Geometric or abstracts shapes
in a pop of color are perfect to get the look!

When choosing a piece of wall art for your
space, the most important consideration is

the size.

Make sure to take measurements of the wall
space available, so you know how much space

you have at your disposal to pick the perfect
art for your walls.

Remember that you can use the wall art to
add color, texture, shape and to add your

personality to your space.

Accessories: The perfect finishing touches.

Accessories such as vases, centerpieces, decorative
objects and your dishes, help you personalize

your space.

However, adding too many of these to your
table and around the dining room can make

your space feel cluttered.

Instead, try to focus on a small number of
accessories that work well with your style,

color scheme and the shape of your dining
table.

A single centerpiece works well on a smaller
round table, but a large, rectangular table

may be able to hold two or three well-placed
decorative objects.

Also be sure to have the right elements to
make your dining room special.

For a contemporary table setting, for your
dishes choose geometric pieces, abstract patterns

or marble and unique flatware to make your
home shine.

Dining Room Decorating Ideas|Dining Room Design

Hello I’m, Jennifer with Jennifer Decorates, and today’s video is going to be all about dining room decorating ideas, so stay tuned.

So, in this video I have got seven tips that will help you design a beautiful dining room.

Maybe you’re just wanting to give your dining room just a little bit of a facelift.

All of these tips will apply now in this video.

Most of the dining room that I’m going to show you is from one of my favorite clients

that we did last year. They’re just a lovely couple, and they graciously allowed me to show you a little bit of their home.

Let me give you just a preview of how beautiful their home really is.

For tip number one, it’s gonna be to declutter your dining room.

Unfortunately, many of our dining rooms become dumping stations. So that is the first thing you have to do.

You just have to clear out the clutter and

make up your mind that that room is not going to be a dumping station for everybody’s papers and shoes and clutter.

Now, I am saying that but I’ve also had trouble with that, and I’m going to tell you real quick – this is a book

it’s called “The

Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo, I believe she’s even got a Netflix show coming out.

This book really helps you get behind the psychology of why we hang on to things.

And I recently lost both of my parents

so it was very difficult for me to figure out what can I let go and what can I keep. And

this is a fabulous book. I’ll put a link to it below. But that’s your first tip and that is De- cluttering your dining room.

For tip number two, it’s gonna be paint.

Nothing transforms a room quicker and more beautifully than paint. Now I know paint is extremely difficult.

How many of you have over ten samples in your garage of paint, that didn’t work out?

But here’s a few quick little tips about what will help you choose paint.

I always say if there’s a certain color you like – like a certain blue;

choose about three different blue colors in that same hue, paint them on a sample. Bring them home

put them on your wall and look at them in the daytime and in the evening. And here’s another trick:

so here’s a sample I’ve painted and I know I have my bright lights on, but it looks pretty light.

However,

if you take a white piece of paper and you hold that sample up to the white –

Look how much darker it looks. This helps you know how dark that color is going to look on your wall.

So tip number two is all about paint.

Tip number three is

furniture. Now typically when I am designing from scratch a dining room

I like to choose a sideboard or buffet rather than a huge hutch.

You know most dining rooms aren’t very large. So a hutch just tends to really shrink the room.

Another reason and my most important reason is because if I have a sideboard or a buffet,

then I’m going to put buffet lamps on them and that just adds ambient lighting to the room. Now

let’s talk about if you’ve already got furniture.

And maybe – I hear this all the time – a lot of clients have beautiful cherry furniture.

Beautiful table and chairs and they don’t want to get rid of everything. So, how can you just update it a little bit? Well,

keep the table or

keep the chairs on the side and then switch out with

captains chairs on the end. Or do

Parsons chairs, or an upholstered chair.and that really

softens the look. If you’re not as attached – we did this with a client. She was not as attached to her buffet

So you can see in the before picture

There is her old buffet and then we just brought in a different buffet and then for her we changed out her chairs.

All right. Let me show you another picture. I I love this dining table every chair is

mismatched, except the two captains chairs on the end. And it works!

Now what if you don’t want to change out your buffet or your dining table?

Or maybe you can’t afford to change out the buffet.

But you’re not as crazy about it – learn to paint it will make the hugest difference. Let me show you this picture

this is my

bedroom dresser, but let me show you the before picture. You can see this is

cherry.

But it was a beautiful piece. So what I did was I chaulk painted it and it gave it the most beautiful makeover.

And it’s not that hard to do.

I will put a link above you can click over to my video where I show how to chalk paint furniture.

So for tip number four

We’re gonna talk about lighting.

Because that can make a huge difference in a room if your chandelier is out of date and you have it in the budget.

It is amazing how updating your light fixture can really change the entire design of the room. Now, I spoke about this before,

buffet lamps -I think are so important in a dining room because if you only have

overhead lighting, you just really don’t get that warm and cozy feeling. Now

let me tell you another secret we use in our house,

and that is we call it a “lamp remote” you get five of these plugins and you get two remotes.

These are wonderful!

So you plug them in the wall and you plug your lamp into them and you can have them in several different rooms and then

each

button controls each lamp that you’ve plugged in to these little outlets.

My husband’s so happy now because he says he gets to go bed 15 minutes earlier now because of all the lamps I have on.

Whatever.

So the fifth tip I want to talk to you about is window treatments.

They make one of the most biggest impacts in a room and especially in a dining room because if you paint in a dining room,

your window treatments are going to be essentially the only

pattern design in the room.

Always hang them above your window as high as you can to bring I up on the wall now

Everybody’s got a particular budget

So with each client, I have three different places that are my go-to depending on their budget. If it’s a bit tight

I’m gonna be at HomeGoods.

Dining Room Decorating Ideas

They have started carrying a lot more ready-made panels – some all the way to

108 inch length. Target carries some great drapes as well. If we have a little more in the budget,

I have a wonderful company that I go to online called Half-price Drapes. And I’ll put a link to that below as well. I

Love their French Linen line.

And they have a lot of beautiful colors and I’ve even ordered them before and

Added a little bit is called tape on the edge of the curtain for a little bit of color and Flair

My third go-to is if we have a good cushion in the budget is going to be for custom drapery panels

Now if that’s a little overwhelming to you even just even going to a fabric store having someone come in to help you with that

One of the things we do at my store if you go online, it’s called a virtual

Consultation and you’ll have that with me and you go in

Online and you sign up on the form and you’re gonna send me pictures and measurements of your windows

and I’m gonna kind of take a look at everything in the room and

Send you three to five

Samples of fabric that I think are gonna be your best choice in that room and then we’ll chat back and forth

About having the drapes made kind of what their function is. So just remember that

Window treatments really do make a huge impact in your dining room

Alright tip number six is wall decor

Now I will typically have a mirror in the dining room

I’d love to have a mirror above the buffet because most home designs when you come in the front door

There’s a dining room either on the left or right. So that is you’re coming right into that foyer

And you look say the dining is to the, right?

You look in the dining room that mirror just reflects everything from the foyer and just makes that whole room look really big

So if I don’t put a mirror above the buffet

Then that’s a perfect place to put some beautiful

Artwork. And then just for the rest of the walls – you just put on the walls

Whatever makes you happy. Whether it’s family portraits or just different artwork

Just remember not to over clutter the walls and to keep in scale with the room

Number seven is

Accessories I keep accessories pretty minimal in a dining room

I love flowers

So I’m probably gonna either

Place a floral arrangement on the dining table and if there is a buffet maybe if I put it on the buffet

then I might do a really large bowl on the

table with two candlesticks on each side and no matter what I put on the dining table

I usually always put a table runner because it just adds a little bit of softness

between the wood of the table and then whatever accessories I have placed on top

now if I have a hutch in the dining room, I

really like to keep that minimal as well and I’ll kind of go through the clients dishes and

Organize them and then probably take some away and store them somewhere else

now if I do have a floral on the dining room table a lot of times what I like to do is I like to

find a really oversized platter -like just a plain white platter and

I will place it on an easel and that is all I’ll put on the buffet because I can sit it right in between two

buffet lamps and it looks beautiful.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this video about dining-room decorating ideas

be sure to subscribe to my channel because I’m gonna have a lot more videos coming out shortly. And I really hope you have a

wonderful day!

Today’s Supersized Windows Call For Innovative Fashion Solutions

When building a dream house, today’s homeowners want quite an area with a view. they need many rooms and larger windows to maximise the view and let in additional light.

Recent statistics from the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) indicate that new houses still get larger then do windows.

They show that a majority of Gen X’ers and Y’s prefer nine-foot or higher ceilings-and soaring rooms often incorporate enormous windows.

NAHB also reports that baby boomers, in their well-established tradition of defying convention, are seeking diverse housing solutions. But whatever their choices, they need an abundance of natural light and thus larger windows in their new homes.

The trend also applies to transforming homes. “As homes age, many householders got to replace windows. once they do, they often upgrade to greater windows or trade a couple of small windows for an outsized one,” said Joan Stephen, President of the National Association of the transforming Industry.

The trend holds for apartments also , where realtors report that loft-style apartments and new glass towers are gaining popularity over traditional apartments.

One window covering manufacturer is keeping pace with the necessity to decorate of these big windows while recognizing the buyer preference for diffused light and a good view. Hunter Douglas has introduced Quartette™, a four-inch vane size in Silhouette® window shadings.

This innovative, light-transforming window fashion, with its soft fabric vanes suspended between sheer panels, was previously available in two- and three-inch vane sizes. within the new style, the shadings make a dramatic architectural statement at the window.

Silhouette Quartette combines the design of shutters with the softness and elegance of a sheer in sizes up to 10-feet wide and 10-feet high. Yet it also boasts superior UV protection and provides the utmost view-through of any Silhouette vane size.

“When you’ve got huge windows, you would like something heftier,” said designer Elaine Griffin. “The four-inch vane size brings window dressing to a replacement dimension.”

Available in 24 colors in two popular fabric styles, Silhouette Quartette softly diffuses light while providing the large view today’s consumers crave.

Wall scones are often effectively used for correct ambient lighting, like in restaurants and bed rooms, and also it could compliment any spot light fixture or lamp during a beneficial manner albeit wall sconce falls short when it involves spot lighting by itself. In such a design, the wall sconce not only reduces the quantity of sunshine required by the task light fixture, but also produces a more uniform light distribution thereby reducing glare and resulting eye strain to the occupants of the space .

Here are few tips on the way to incorporate wall sconces within the different rooms so on improve its overall interior decoration element also because the lighting aspects.

Let’s start with the dining room. Wall sconces can play a serious role in enhancing the lighting and hence ambience of the dining room. Dining in poor light – could also be with the exception of ‘candle light dinners’ – are often quite cumbersome most of the days . In most dining rooms, the lighting is provided by ceiling fixtures, like chandeliers or pendants, which meanwhile lights up the table properly, an equivalent also could create unwanted shadows on the opposite parts of the space . Installing wall sconces within the sides could catch up on the shortage of sunshine in those areas, and cancel off the undesired shadows created by the ceiling fixtures. Window Fashions Are Going Hybrid

Window Fashions Are Going Hybrid
